is looking to build on the success of the HTC One with its new phone, the, erm, HTC One. Well, that’s not entirely accurate, it’s called the HTC One M8, but it feels like the M8 was added on the launch day because of the mass confusion the name was causing. HTC desperately wants to distance itself from the hundreds of other smartphones that do exactly the same thing. At the launch, I barely heard someone whisper the phrase  ‘quad-core’ or even ‘MicroSD’ . That’s because HTC wanted to focus on what it can offer that other smartphones can’t. And this is where the high-end smartphone battle will be ultimately fought, not on price, not on specifications, but on software and innovation.
